Weekly Announcement

Good evening parents, this is Mr. Dunn with a few details to close out the 2019-20 school year and accolades as we reflect on this past school year. We have finally reached the end of this very challenging school year, and I am sure everyone is looking forward to summer. I wanted to personally thank all our parents and community for all the support throughout the school year and especially the past three months during distance learning. As expected, our staff, students, parents, and our community pulled together for the benefit of our most treasured asset, our children!

During these summer months, please continue with physical distancing, hand washing and other procedures to protect health even as Maryland’s COVID-19 restrictions are eased. Please also look for safe and creative opportunities to help children read, learn, and explore.

Please complete the attached survey below so we can evaluate the effectiveness of our term 4 Distance Learning initiatives

We are currently accepting special permission requests and if your child attended Salisbury Middle for the 2019-20 school year, the special permission request needs to be submitted this week. I have attached a form in your parent link email for your convenience.

  • Please remember to INDICATE AND INITIAL THE REASON FOR REQUEST. Only one reason should be circled. It is necessary for the correct reason to be indicated as this information is logged and recorded in a database.
  • Forms are currently available for distribution
  • All current special permission forms must be received this week.
  • All new special permission requests can be processed starting July 1, 2019.

Looking ahead: Attention parents of rising grade 7 students, please be advised that per MD state law, all grade 7 students must have the following vaccinations prior to the start of the school year:

  • TDAP – tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis
  • MCV – meningitis

The Wicomico County Health Dept. is currently offering these shots for free. Please call today for an appointment.

Please take advantage of the enrichment activities that will be on our school and county website for our students to experience during the summer months, encourage your child to read daily and infuse real-life educational concepts that connect to careers of interest in your daily interactions with your child. Have a good evening!
