Congratulations to Wicomico's Four Carson Scholars
Each year, the Carson Scholars Fund Inc. recognizes a select group of high achieving students from around the country in Grades 4 to 12 who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and humanitarian qualities. This spring four students from Wicomico County Public Schools are being recognized as 2020 Carson Scholars.
Carson Scholars is a recognition and scholarship program funded by the world-renowned John Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon and public servant, Dr. Benjamin Carson, and his wife, Candy Carson.
Wicomico Schools proudly congratulates these 2020 Recognized Carson Scholars:

Riley Forrestal, 9th Grade, Parkside High, 5th time
Anna Long, 12th Grade, James M. Bennett High, 8th time

Due to the restrictions currently in place with the COVID-19 pandemic, the 24th annual Carson Scholars Fund banquet, which was to be held in Maryland on May 3 for scholars from Maryland and surrounding states, has been canceled. Other festivities are being planned to celebrate the new and recognized 2020 Carson Scholars. These young scholars are exceptional, not only in the academic setting, but in their communities and globally.
New scholars receive a $1,000 college scholarship and the coveted honor of being named a Carson Scholar. These scholars can renew annually until their senior year for continued recognition as a Carson Scholar.
The Carson Scholars Fund had also planned to celebrate scholars across the country at four additional regional banquets which have also been cancelled. In total 1,389 new and recognized scholars will be honored in addition to five new alumni Hall of Fame members. Additional information regarding the recognition of these amazing scholars may be found at www.carsonscholars.org, as information becomes available.
