Wicomico Schools: Every Week is Education Week in Our Schools!

The 2019-2020 school year is well underway, and we are always excited to welcome parents and guardians into our schools to see their students learning.

Perhaps you have already visited for a back-to-school event or PTA night, or met with a teacher. Maybe you’ve spent time in the classroom to observe a lesson, or attended a special assembly with your child. You might have been in the stands at a game or band competition, or you’ve put an upcoming concert or play on your family’s schedule.

Whatever the occasion, we are glad to see you as you support your student’s education in Wicomico Schools. Your engagement supports student success. Please come at any time throughout the 2019-2020 school year.

In prior years, our schools have had a visitation focus during American Education Week. However, the concentration of so many people in our schools during those five days can lead to disruptions to instruction and, more importantly, concerns for security. Many parents and guardians have shared that they feel pressured to find time to visit during that particular week instead of when it might better suit their schedule or the activities happening for their student.

Feedback from parents and guardians and staff in recent years shows a clear preference for visitors being welcome to come in throughout the school year, and that is our approach in Wicomico County Public Schools. While the November American Education Week will continue to provide a national spotlight on the value of public education, in Wicomico Schools we have the welcome mat out for visitors today, tomorrow, and any day during the 2019-2020 school year.

Thank you for supporting the education of your family’s student or students in Wicomico County Public Schools!
