Celebrating the Students Selected for 2019 All Shore Band

Wicomico County Middle and High School Band Students Selected for All Shore Junior and Senior Bands, All State Senior Band, All-Eastern Honors Orchestra

Congratulations to the outstanding band members from Wicomico County Public Schools who have been selected by audition to participate in 2019 All Shore Senior and Junior Bands. The performances will take place in the Queen Anne’s County High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6 after two days of All Shore Band rehearsals.

Middle and high school band students from throughout the Eastern Shore auditioned for All Shore Band on Jan. 26, and 54 Wicomico students were chosen for the 2018 Junior and Senior All Shore Band ensembles. Eleven of the 54 students achieved the distinction of being 1st chair for their instrument.

Three students, Bennett Middle’s Ellie Long, Briana Truitt and Mary Hsia, will be part of both All Shore Band and All Shore Orchestra.

Two band students from Wicomico County Public Schools were also selected by audition to participate the weekend of Feb. 3 in the prestigious All State Senior Band at Morgan State University: Mitchell Adams and Hunter Wirt. Mitchell was also selected as 1st chair trombone for the All Shore Senior Band. Hunter, who plays percussion, was also selected to be part of the prestigious 2019 National Association for Music Educators All-Eastern Honors Orchestra the weekend of April 7 in Pittsburgh, He is a three-time All State Band honoree. In addition to being active band members at Mardela Middle and High School, both musicians are second-year students in the Wicomico County Visual and Performing Arts Program.

The achievements of all these band students highlight the high level of music education in Wicomico County Public Schools. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donna C. Hanlin and the Board of Education are very proud that Wicomico County Public Schools has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation Survey. Wicomico has earned this honor nine of the past 12 years due to its excellent music educators and music instruction programs, including band.
