Health and Safety Protocols for Summer Programs (Effective July 1)
SchoolMessenger Message for June 30, 2021
(for school families involved in summer programs in Wicomico County Public Schools)
Good evening, Wicomico school families with students engaged in summer programs with Wicomico County Public Schools. Thank you for being part of a very positive start to the summer through the many classes and programs and activities planned for the students of Wicomico County Public Schools.
The governor announced some new health and safety guidelines effective July 1st, and we want to make sure everyone is aware of what the ongoing protocols will be during summer programs in our schools. These protocols cover PPE, physical distancing, and other preventive actions relating to COVID-19. The continued use of these protocols in Wicomico County Public Schools at this time will support a positive, healthy work and learning environment. Please review these protocols in the attached handout and contact us with any questions.
In brief, and in keeping with the recommendations of the Maryland Department of Health:
Masks continue to be strongly encouraged indoors for children under 12 and for anyone 12 and over who is not yet fully vaccinated. Everyone must wear a mask on school transportation, in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Students will be spaced at least 3 feet apart whenever possible.
Thorough cleaning and disinfecting procedures will continue.
Screening questions must be answered each day for any student or adult coming to a Wicomico school. Anyone answering “yes” to any of the health screening questions should stay home.
Contact tracing will continue to be done if there is a positive COVID-19 case in a summer program, based on 6 feet of distance.
Thank you for taking the time to review the full handout before your child reports for a summer program in our schools on July 1st. Have a good evening.
