Parent Message 10-20

Good evening Clippers.  This is Principal Savage with your weekly message.

Homecoming week has arrived.  We are excited for all the events that will lead up to the game and the dance.  Throughout this week we will have spirit week.

Maryland Monday

Tiktok Tuesday

Tropical Wednesday

Throwback Thursday

Friday Class Colors

Seniors – Red

Juniors – Black

Sophomores – White

Freshman – Grey

On Friday we will also have pep rally starting during 6th and ending during 7th.  Parents if you need to pick up your student on Friday, please do so before 6th period.  Once all the students are in the gym, getting a student for dismissal is very difficult.

Then on Saturday our homecoming game will be here at the Shipyard at noon and the dance will take place later that evening from 7:30-10:30.

The SGA is still looking for some parent volunteers.  We could use some help at the doors and in the area with the games.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email Mr. Davis our SGA advisor at bedavis@wcboe.org

Believe it or not the first term will come to an end very quickly.  Please make sure you check in on your student’s grades.   If you have any questions about your student’s attendance or ways to make up unexcused absences, please be sure to reach out.  The attendance make-up process is designed to help students who are absent with support and time to make up any missed work.

Next week is also college application week so be sure to check out the attachment that outlines what is occurring each day and during what periods.

Also Senior portraits are due to Mrs. Sebach by October 31 for the yearbook.

Any student who would like to order the 2020 yearbook, go to Balfour.com. There is an early bird price of $70 until December 1. After that, the price will be $75, so order early. Last year we sold out of all yearbooks.

Substance Misuse Parent Night will take place Thursday, October 24th from 6-7:30 p.m. here at James M. Bennett High School.  The event will feature presentations by Wicomico County States Attorney’s Office, Sheriff Mike Lewis, and Jordon Cropper who will share his powerful “journey to recovery.”  Jordan’s journey began as a teen struggling with substance misuse.  The Wicomico County Intervention Resource Trailer will be on site which will give parents and guardians a live simulation tour of a teens bedroom”.  The trailer was carefully developed in partnership with the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force and is a valuable resource for our community.  The tour will give parents important information to help identify substance misuse.

Be sure to check out our bulletin and Facebook for all the upcoming activities and events this week.

Thank you and have a great evening.
