Parent Message 10-6
Good evening Clippers. This is Principal Savage with your weekly message.
We sure do seem to have some busy weeks here at JMB. If you follow WCBOE on facebook or twitter you have probably seen that an arrest was made as it related to the threat to our building. The arrest that was made had nothing to do with any of the pictures that got posted on social media the day of the threat. Unfortunately, on that day a few took the opportunity during the incident to create concern when there was no concern coming from law enforcement or the school administration. Though we hope we do not have to be in the situation again, we have to use it as learning experience. As a staff we debriefed that day and have created a list of what worked well and what we could do better “if” we were to ever be in the situation again. I have appreciated the feedback from staff, students and parents. It truly is a school and community effort to ensure the safety of our students.
If you didn’t make it to the game on Friday night, you missed a great evening. The fall weather, football and cheering on our team. Though our team did not win, I am proud of their effort and all the fans that came out. Some Parkside parents shared with me how well our fans did and how LOUD they could cheer. I was a very proud Principal as I left the game.
Senior parents, just another reminder that the first parent meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7th @ 7:00 in the media center. Come on out as prom and after-prom planning gets underway.
On October 26th our homecoming game will be here at the Shipyard at noon and the dance will take place later that evening from 7:30-10:30. Along with the dance we will be providing students with the opportunity to play games in the gym. Our SGA is in need of parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Mr. Davis our SGA advisor at email@example.com.
If you have any questions about your student’s attendance or ways to make up unexcused absences, please be sure to reach out. The attendance make-up process is designed to help students who are absent with support and time to make up any missed work.
A reminder that this year College Board has changed the ordering process and deadlines to the fall for AP exams. Signing up and paying for the AP test is a two-step process that must occur between Sept 24 and Oct 15, instead of in the spring like prior years. Please see the email for more information about signing up and paying for AP exams.
1. Students must sign up through their college board AP class join code to have access to each AP class he or she is taking.
2. Within that College Board online platform for each class, elect to register for the test.
3. Pay for each AP test online using MyPaymentsPlus.
These steps with links are detailed on the Board of Education website under “For Students” then “AP Exam Registration” at https://www.wcboe.org/domain/2238.
Auditions for Rock & Roll Revival will take place this week. Shows will be in February. Rock & Roll Revival is a huge community event and is a great PTSA fundraiser that supports activities throughout our school.
Progress reports went home on Thursday. Students still have time to get those grades up. The first term ends Nov. 1st and report cards go home on Nov. 12th
I am looking forward to another great week at JMB. Be sure to check out our bulleting and Facebook for all the upcoming activities and events this week.
Thank you and have a great evening.
