Parent Message 4-25
Good evening, Clipper families. This is Principal Savage with your weekly message.
During this time of year, we really start our planning for 2021-2022 school year with scheduling, SGA and Class officer elections which will run next week, and now the Statement of Intent for next school year that is needed by April 30th.
In September, Wicomico Schools plans to welcome back to the classroom almost all students for in-person instruction five days a week. An all-virtual option with basic core classes will also be available for students and families who, due to unique circumstances, would prefer it. To allow for necessary planning by our school and school system, please be sure to provide a nonbinding Statement of Intent for 2021-2022 School Year for each student in your family by April 30th. Visit https://intent.wcboe.org/ to make the Statement of Intent for your student or students. Thank you for taking care of this important task. More information on plans for next year will be shared in the coming weeks, and in a month or two parents and guardians will be asked to complete a binding Commitment to Education Plan for 2021-2022 School Year.
We also continue to be focused on this school year so here are just a few reminders/updates:
Our band students will hold an outdoor band concert for select guest on Wednesday to display their talents for alive audience. We will also live stream the event for those who are unable to attend. Please check out social media for the live stream link.
Parents of students receiving special education services: you are asked to please complete the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey you recently received in the mail. By completing this survey, you can share with us how our school partners with you. Your feedback is so important in guiding our efforts to improve special education and related services in Wicomico County. You should have already received a paper copy to complete but if you prefer to complete it on-line, please go to www.mdparentsurvey.com to do so. We have the information posted on our school district website and school district Facebook page for your use. The WCPS website is www.wcboe.org. Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences and ideas so together we can move forward with quality special education and related services for our students.
All students who are taking an AP exam digitally need to have the AP browser installed. Attached are the directions to complete. Please follow this step as soon as possible so we can ensure that all students are prepared for test taking. The instructions have also been added to the grade level classrooms. Summer Camp Information Attached:
Did your student take Algebra 1 and/or English 10 this school year, either in semester 1 or currently in semester 2? If so, we will be providing an opportunity to satisfy the assessment graduation requirement by taking the test this spring while the content is fresh! Any hybrid or virtual student who took Algebra 1 and/or English 10/ Honors English 10/Pre-AP English 10 this school year, with parent input, can sign-up at the link to take the assessment this May. The link and more information can be found in the letter that is attached to the email portion of this message. This information is also posted to each grade level google classroom, and you can also ask any teacher for the link. If your student took either of those courses this year and choose not to participate in testing this spring, the requirement for graduation will NOT go away and the requirement will be to test next fall. If you have any further questions about this test administration, please contact our school testing coordinator, Mrs. Gosseline, at firstname.lastname@example.org PARENT NOTICE - 03.31.21 SPRING ASSESSMENTS(1).pdf

Reminder that if you struggled quarter three of a full credit course and earned an E you need to earn a D quarter 4 to pass. Also, if you earned a D third quarter you still need to earn a D quarter 4. D’s are a minimum as I know you can do better. Please stay engaged and finish strong during quarter 4.
