9-7 Parent Message

Good evening, Clipper families.  This is Principal Savage with your weekly message.

I hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend.  As you are aware the end of Labor Day weekend brings the start of school.  On Tuesday all students will begin “live” virtual instruction.

As we begin virtual school, we anticipate some hiccups and bumps along the way.  As a school community we will need to be flexible with one another.  I saw a Facebook post about what school supplies were really needed for this year and it included patience, flexibility, deep breaths, calmness, humor, positivity, compassion, and kindness.  I believe these will be essentials supplies for the first few days of school as the we work out the kinks.

As school beings on Tuesday both teachers and students will be participating in “history in the making.”  No one before them has done this.  I believe that the staff at JMB is up for the challenge and I know our students are up for the challenge.  It is now our job to support them during this journey.

Prior to Tuesday morning students should make sure they know their schedule, check their school email and their junk folder for Google Classroom invites.  I would suggest that on Tuesday morning students once again review their schedule, check their school email and verify they have the correct Google Classrooms.  This process is very important and even more important if your child has requested a schedule change.  Keep in mind that students need to attend the classes currently on their schedule until their schedule change has officially been processed.

All the names that were collected for laptops from the August 14th through the 25th have been notified to pick up their laptops.  For families that requested a laptop after the 28th we will notify you as laptops are made ready.  You will receive a follow up parent message about when you can pick up your laptop.  Our tech team has been working hard and has provided over 600 laptops to families.  On Friday they spent the day distributing hots spots to those in need.  Attached to the email is additional information about internet options in our community.  internet options NEW.jpg

As we begin this week let’s work together to make “live” virtual learning a success.  We are making history and together WE are Clipper Strong!

Thank you and have a great evening.
