Please come out and support students at these spring concerts, parades and programs, and learn for yourself why Wicomico County Public Schools has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation for eight of the past 11 years including the past six years straight!

 

Beaver Run Elementary

Beaver Run Elementary will present its Spring Music Concert at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 18 in the Wicomico High School Auditorium. The "informance" will include the 1st Grade classes of Beaver Run. The program will feature activities, music, and routines that have been introduced in music classes throughout the course of the academic year. Free. 410-677-5101

 

Charles H. Chipman Elementary

Charles H. Chipman Elementary will hold its spring program on Monday, May 8 beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year, the Kindergarten students will pay tribute to many American heroes who have worked to make our country a better place in which to live. The program will be held at Salisbury Middle School in the cafetorium. 410-677-5814

 

Delmar Elementary

Delmar Elementary does not have a spring concert or program.

 

East Salisbury Elementary

The East Salisbury Elementary Spring Concert is Monday, May 8 at 6 p.m. in the gym. The concert will feature Band, 4th & 5th grade String students, and 4th & 5th grade performers (singers, recorder, & guitar). Free admission. 410-677-5803

 

Fruitland Primary

Fruitland Primary will have a Spring Program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, with a dress rehearsal at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 that will be open for parents to attend. The program will feature the 2nd Grade students as they demonstrate a few of the songs and dances they have learned throughout the school year. A Kindergarten class will also be featured as they demonstrate their world drumming skills with Ted Nichols. The African drumming program, tubano drums, and xylophones featured in the program were made possible, in part, by a grant from the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, awarded by the Maryland State Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and in part, by grants awarded by The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore and the Salisbury Jaycees Community Foundation. Fruitland Intermediate

Fruitland Intermediate School’s Spring Concert will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, May 15 in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. Featured will be the Chorus, Band & Orchestra students. Free. 410-677-5805

 

Glen Avenue Elementary

The Glen Avenue Elementary 5th Grade band will perform a spring concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18 at the school. Free. 410-677-5806

 

North Salisbury Elementary

The North Salisbury Elementary Spring Concert with 4th and 5th grade string students will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, May 15 in the school multipurpose room. Free. 410-677-5807

Please join the North Salisbury Elementary 1st graders at 6 p.m. Monday, May 22 as they present lessons in character building in the musical, Mother Goose’s Character Camp. Singing and dancing with age-old nursery rhymes as well as new songs has never been so educational! How should we treat our friends? What are some things we shouldn’t do? Do lambs belong in schools? North Salisbury Beginning Band will present a spring concert, “Night and Day,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 in the multipurpose room. Selections include “Ghostbusters.” Free. 410-677-5807

 

Northwestern Elementary

Northwestern Elementary’s spring music program will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 in the school’s cafeteria. Northwestern Elementary students in grades 3- 5 will present "Jukebox Time Machine." Travel back in time and explore the music from the early days of Northwestern Elementary, which is celebrating its 50th year. The 5th Grade Band students and 4th/5th grade String students will present their Spring Concert. Pemberton Elementary

The Pemberton Elementary PTA Talent Show will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 in the Parkside High Auditorium. Come enjoy performances by the Pemberton Chorus and the Pemberton Step Team plus individual performances by students from grades K-5.  Students will sing, dance, and demonstrate their skills in acting and playing instruments. 410-677-5809

Pinehurst Elementary

Pinehurst Elementary’s 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Choir, 5th Grade recorder club, and the 4th and 5th Grade String and Band students will present a Spring Concert at 6 p.m. Thursday May 25 in the Pinehurst gym. Free. 410-677-5810

 

Prince Street Elementary

Prince Street Elementary presents an Evening of the Arts at 6 p.m. Monday, May 8. The evening will feature Beginning Band, Orchestra, Intermediate Chorus, Primary Ballet Dancers, and Intermediate Jazz Dancers. Free admission. 410-677-5813

 

Westside Primary

Westside Primary School held its spring program on Wednesday, April 12. Kindergarten students paid tribute to many American heroes who have worked to make our country a better place in which to live. The program was held at 6 p.m. in the school cafetorium. Free admission. 410-677-5117

 

Westside Intermediate

Westside Intermediate Band and Strings present a spring concert at 6 p.m. Monday, May 15 in the school cafetorium. “Night and Day” is the title of the band portion of the program and will include the song “Pirates Parade.” Free admission. 410-677-5118

The Westside Intermediate School Spring Chorus Program will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 22 at the school. The program is entitled “Starz in Their Eyes.” Free. 410-677-5118

 

Wicomico Early Learning Center (WELC)

The students of Wicomico Early Learning Center (WELC) will perform “Sounds A Little Fishy to Me” on Tuesday, May 9 at 6 p.m. in the Gymnasium of East Salisbury Elementary. Admission free. 410-677-5900

 

Willards Elementary

The students of Wonderful Willards Elementary will perform an arts integrated program entitled “It’s Easy Being Green”, in honor of their Go Green focus, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17 at the school. Free. 410-677-5819

 

Pittsville Elementary and Middle

The Pittsville Middle and Wicomico Middle school orchestras will present a Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in the Wicomico Middle auditorium. Free. 410-677-5145

The Spring Concert for Pittsville Elementary 4th and 5th grade orchestra and band students will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 in the Pittsville School cafetorium. Free. 410-677-5811

The Pittsville Middle School band concert will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11 in the Parkside High School Auditorium. In addition to our normal band performances by the 6th Grade band, 7th and 8th Grade combined band, and Festival and Jazz bands, we will also be featuring two outstanding Pittsville alums on solos (Hannah Lewis and Will Davis.) The Pittsville School Spring Chorus Concert will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25 in the Parkside High Auditorium. The Pittsville Elementary Chorus invites you to “Fly the Friendly Skies” on Thursday, May 25 as they take you on a journey around the world, including stops in such places as South Africa, Japan, Lebanon, and Cuba. Once we land back in the United States, the Middle School Chorus will present popular songs from recent movies. Admission $2 per individual, or $5 per family. 410-677-5811

 

Bennett Middle

The Bennett Middle 7th and 8th Grade Band and the BMS festival Band will present their spring program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 at Parkside High Auditorium. Admission is $2. 410-677-5140

Salisbury Middle

The Salisbury Middle School orchestra​ concert will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 in the school cafetorium. It will feature grades 7th and 8th. Free. 410-677-5149

The Salisbury Middle School Band Spring Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18 in the Cafeteria. Featured will be the 7th and 8th grade Symphonic Band and the 6th grade Advanced Band. Admission is free. 410-677-5149

The Salisbury Middle School 6th Grade Beginning Chorus will present a spring concert, "Songs of Nature," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 in the cafetorium. Admission is $3 for adults and free for students and children. 410-677-5149

The Salisbury Middle 7th and 8th Grade chorus concert will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24. The 7th Grade Intermediate Chorus, 8th Grade Intermediate Chorus, Show Choir, and Concert Chorus will combine to present "Songs of Freedom and Justice." The Salisbury Middle Symphonic Band will travel to Williamsburg, Va. To compete in the Musical Band Competition on Friday, May 26.

 

Wicomico Middle

Wicomico Middle School’s 6th Grade Choir will perform in a combined concert with the 6th Grade Band in the Wicomico Middle School auditorium on Monday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature a variety of songs and selections. Donated items will be collected for the Humane Society of Wicomico County. Admission is free. 410-677-5145

The Wicomico Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Band Spring Concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 in the Wicomico Middle auditorium. Students will perform a variety of patriotic, popular and classic band literature.  We will have a collection for the Wicomico County Humane Society. Free admission. Mardela Middle and High

The Mardela Middle and High Spring Concert was held Tuesday, April 18, featuring the Mardela Middle School Band 6 and State Solo & Ensemble Festival Qualifiers. The program was held at 7 p.m. in the MMHS cafetorium. Free admission. 410-677-5142

The Mardela High Spring Band Concert will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, May 8 and will feature the Mardela Middle Festival Band, High School Symphonic Band, and Warrior Marching Band & Bandfront. The concert will take place in the MMHS cafetorium. Free admission. 410-677-5142

James M. Bennett High

The James M. Bennett High School Symphonic and Concert Bands, under the direction of Mr. Douglas L. Miles, will present their Annual Spring Band Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27 in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. Mr. Miles has been recognized by the Maryland Music Educators Association as the 2017 Maryland Career Music Teacher of the Year.  In his 18th year at James M. Bennett, Mr. Miles has been teaching for 37 years in Wicomico County. The JMB Concert Band will perform first, playing original music from O’Reilly and Bennett.  The Concert Band will also perform Elmer Bernstein’s theme music from the movie Magnificent Seven.  As tribute to the late artist, Prince; the Band will play music from the movie Purple Rain. The JMB Symphonic Band will go on second, with selections from their Superior performance at District Band Festival:  Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song by Samuel Hazo and Undertow by John Mackey. Featured is an original composition by the Guest Conductor of this year’s Senior All-Shore Band Mr. Mark Lortz titled  Heart of Madness, based on the writing of Edgar Allen Poe.  Lighter selections include the Leroy Anderson classic Serenata and the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber from the hit Broadway Musical Phantom of the Opera.  The encore selection will bring both bands on stage to perform Sammy Nestico’s  Spirit of Liberty. The James M. Bennett High Intermediate and Concert Choirs will present a spring program entitled "Broadway on the Big Screen: Musicals at the Movies” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18 in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. The program highlights recent musicals brought "live" to film and television, including "Hairspray" and "Beauty & the Beast".  The JMB Concert Choir will also reprise its performance from the 2017 Maryland State Choral Festival. The Parkside High Choral Department will celebrate the wonderful world of Disney with the Spring Concert “Disney Spectacular” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18 in the Parkside Auditorium. The Intermediate and Concert Choirs will sing selections from several beloved Disney movies and Broadway shows. The celebration will include a variety of songs such as “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “Aladdin,” “Be Our Guest,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” There will be lots of dancing and even some “special guests”! Wicomico High

The Wicomico High School Spring Band Concert will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 in the Wicomico High School Auditorium.  The celebration will feature the WiHi Jazz, Intermediate, and Symphonic Bands. Admission is $1 and proceeds will go to the WiHi Music Scholarship Fund. 410-677-5146

The Wicomico High School Choral Music Department will present a Spring Concert on Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m. in the WiHi Auditorium. The concert will feature the Concert Choir and Intermediate Choir performing music from some of “Hollywood’s Best Movies” and “#1 Hits Made in America”.  The choirs will perform music from the most recent Choral Festival and will present a composition that will combine all of the singers in both choirs. The director will recognize students who participated in Maryland All-State Chorus and/or All-Shore Chorus, and members of the Class of 2017.  The WHS PTA will collect an admission fee of $3 to help fund a PTA-sponsored music scholarship. 410-677-5146

 

Wicomico County Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) Program

The Performing Arts section of the Wicomico County Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) program is proud to present its Spring Recital at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 406 N. Division St., Salisbury. VPA vocalists and instrumentalists will perform solos from the Baroque through Modern music periods. VPA is open to juniors and seniors from all Wicomico County high schools, by audition. Graduates of the VPA program have been accepted to some of the finest music colleges in the country. The recital fulfills part of the performance requirement of the VPA program. Admission is free and the recital is open to the public. 410-677-5146
