Next week the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society will be sponsoring a pajama drive for the Pajama Program. The purpose of this program is to provide a comforting bedtime routine for children affected by instability. The pajamas are given out locally (Salvation Army, Joseph House, etc.), and for each pair of pajamas collected, Scholastic will donate a book.
We will be collecting pajamas from November 11th-22nd in 4th period classes. Each day, students will come around during 5th period to collect the pajamas from you. We are also doing a competition-- the 4th period that donates the most pajamas will win a dessert party on November 26th.
The pajamas must be brand new and can be a variety of sizes (newborn to adult). They must also be a complete set: a top and bottom or an appropriate night gown. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause!

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FUNDS ALL-COUNTY STRINGS
Mrs. Coco, MMHS and SMS orchestra director, received an award and grant check from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore to start a new program called All-County Orchestra. This orchestra will be comprised of the top students in all the middle and high schools in Wicomico County. All students will audition for a panel of judges, that are made up of Wicomico string teachers, on Saturday, January 18th at Mardela Middle & High School. The audition will determine entrance and seating in the ensemble which will meet on Friday, March 6th at Wicomico High School for a day filled with rehearsals and sectionals led by a professional conductor from a collegiate orchestra. In the evening, the group will present a concert that is open to the public to showcase the string excellence in Wicomico County Schools. It is the string teachers hope that this event will spark continued growth in their music programs and also promote individual growth and collaboration for our young string musicians.
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore has decided to fully fund All-County Orchestra so all students can participate in this event for free! For questions about this event, please contact Mrs. Coco.
