On Nov. 17, the Wicomico County Board of Education approved the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donna Hanlin to return to all virtual learning due to concerning COVID-19 health metrics in Wicomico County. The plan for Wicomico County Public Schools is to return to in-person, hybrid instruction the week of Jan. 4th, with Prekindergarten-Grade 8 hybrid students attending (followed by high school students the week of Feb. 2nd), if the county’s health metrics have improved.
A decision to transition back to in-person learning will depend on two important community health measures:
- 7 consecutive days of Wicomico County’s Positivity Rate below 5% AND
- 7 consecutive days of Wicomico County’s New Case Rate below 15 per 100,000
Wicomico’s daily statistics on these two measures will be charted on this page so our school community can monitor progress toward the goal of resuming in-person instruction.
