Interim Assessments will be administered for all students in grades 3-8, algebra 1, geometry and algebra 2 several times throughout the year. These assessments are based on major Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards and will be used to monitor student progress and help guide teachers' ongoing instruction.
Placement Assessments are administered to all 5th and 6th grade students towards the end of the school year as part of our criteria to identify students to enroll in extended/accelerated mathematics coursework in middle school. Cumulative 5th grade Assessment of Major MDCCRS--This assessment covers the major content taught in 5th grade.
Cumulative 6th grade Assessment of Major MDCCRS--This assessment covers the major content taught in 6th grade.
IOWA Algebra Readiness--This assessment is given to 6th grade students and assesses prerequisite skills and students' ability to reason algebraically.
PARCC Assessments are now required for all students in grades 3-8, algebra 1 and algebra 2. These assessments are administered towards the end of the year and assess student mastery of grade-level content aligned to Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards. Passing the PARCC Algebra 1 assessment is a graduation requirement for all Maryland students*. Samples of the PARCC Assessment can be found by following this link. Click here.
*Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, students enrolled in Algebra 1 will be required to pass the algebra 1 PARCC assessment aligned to MDCCRS as part of their graduation requirement. This assessment replaces the former HSA requirement for graduation. Students not meeting the testing requirement will be eligible to retest and complete BRIDGE validation projects aligned to the MDCCRS Algebra 1 curriculum. Students who will have completed algebra 1 PRIOR to the 2016-17 school year will be exempt from having to pass this assessment.
