• Wicomico County Schools Promotes Popular Free Summer Meals Program; Federal Funds Serving Summer Meals to Children and Teens

Wicomico County Public Schools, in conjunction with Maryland State Department of Education, will serve free nutritious meals to children and teens this summer through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a U.S. Department of Agriculture program.

In Wicomico County almost 60% of students are eligible for free or reduced-priced school meals during the school year. They may not have access to safe, nutritious food during the summer when schools are closed, especially during the long summer months. The SFSP serves an important role in communities, reducing food insecurity by offering healthy foods in welcoming locations across the state.

The program is open to children and teens age 18 and under and to individuals over 18 who are mentally or physically disabled. Meal service will begin on June 24 and end on Aug. 9 this summer. For locations and serving times, please visit, Call 211 or text “FOOD” to 877 877 or the Wicomico County Schools Food and Nutrition Office at 410-677-4442.
