Letters mailed for All Rising Third-Graders with Information on

    Placement, Eligibility for Magnet Program

Letters will be mailed in mid - June 2019 to the parents and guardians of all rising third-graders in Wicomico County Public Schools. These letters will include specific assessment data that were used as a part of the criteria for determining Magnet Program eligibility and will state whether the student is eligible to enroll in the Magnet Program for the next school year.

Once receiving these letters, parents and guardians of students who have qualified for the Magnet Program must return their Letter of Intent in the self-addressed stamped envelope to Mrs. Ruby Brown by the specified date. Parents will be asked to fill out and return the Letter of Intent stating whether or not the student will participate in the Magnet Program.  The annual Magnet Open House for students and parents will be scheduled for late June and will be held at North Salisbury Elementary School located at 1213 Emerson Ave. Salisbury, MD.

Parents and guardians of students who did not qualify for the Magnet Program and who wish to appeal must submit a letter of appeal to the attention of Mrs. Ruby Brown, Supervisor of Accelerated Learning Programs, by the specified date in June. The letter must explain in detail why the child should be placed in an advanced, fast-paced learning program. Any letters of appeal should be addressed to Mrs. Brown, Wicomico County Public Schools, PO Box 1538, Salisbury MD 21802. Magnet Program appeals will be scheduled on specified dates in July 2019.

Note: All rising fourth- and fifth-grade students not already part of the Magnet Program will be reevaluated for Magnet eligibility for the 2019-2020 school year. Letters inviting those students who qualify for the upcoming school year will be sent home by the end of June. Only new 4th and 5th grade invitees will receive letters.
