On Nov. 17, the Wicomico County Board of Education approved the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donna Hanlin to return to all virtual learning due to concerning COVID-19 health metrics in Wicomico County. The current plan for Wicomico County Public Schools is to return to in-person, hybrid instruction the week of February 2nd for all grades, if the county’s health metrics have improved. The Superintendent of Schools plans to update school families and staff on the plan for returning to school during the week of Jan. 19th.
A decision to transition back to in-person learning will depend on two important community health measures:
- 7 consecutive days of Wicomico County’s Positivity Rate below 5% AND
- 7 consecutive days of Wicomico County’s New Case Rate below 15 per 100,000
Wicomico’s daily statistics on these two measures will be charted on this page so our school community can monitor progress toward the goal of resuming in-person instruction.
