    ATTENTION Middle School Girls:
    NASA Wallops Flight Facility is accepting applications for a summer STEMinist program from August 20-22, 2019. The 3-day commuter program will consist of a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities including engineering design challenges and activities pertaining to the Apollo 50th Anniversary. Subject matter experts will include women working in a variety of program offices in STEM fields at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. The program is for rising 7th and 8th grade girls (7th and 8th graders in 2019-2020 school year).

    The program is free but will require participants to provide their own transportation daily to Wallops Visitor Center/Educator Resource Center (ERC) located on Chincoteague Road near NASA Wallops Flight Facility. Participants must also provide their own bagged lunch daily. The STEMinist application is attached. Each applicant must prepare an essay, as indicated on the application, and provide a teacher recommendation. Please submit all application packages via US Postal Service to:

    Application packages must be postmarked no later than May 6, 2019 and received by May 10th. Selected students will be notified via email no later than May 17, 2019.

    If you are interested in participating, please do not hesistate to apply. Space is limed to 15 participants. Please read all information carefully as there are several pieces to the application package. It is important that all students provide a valid email address that they will be check regularly to help ensure a response in the event you are selected for participation. Applications that are not typed, that are incomplete, or that are not postmarked by May 6th, cannot be considered.
