  • Learning Packet Pick-Up

Please attend to this message concerning learning packets pick-up.

Thank you for your efforts to maintain connections with our teachers this week as we have wrapped up the third marking period and turn our attention to the fourth. In this extraordinary time, our district leaders, supervisors and others have provided our teachers with guidance and support so that we may provide learning experiences for your children over the coming weeks in the form of electronic and paper learning packets. These learning experiences are straightforward and reasonably completed with some guidance, and we encourage you to become engaged with your children, especially as students create work products, record information in their journals and respond to prompts. We will call upon our parents to send an electronic report to teachers so that we may have an accurate record of students’ engagement with their learning experiences.

In our effort to connect with students and families, we have offered paper learning packets to households that have connectivity issues. Our teachers have made an extraordinary effort this week to determine your capacity to access learning experiences, on-line, with most of you responding that you are able to obtain these mathematics & reading learning packets electronically through Google Classroom and the district’s & our school’s websites. Please know that we have reserved paper copies of these learning packets for those students who cannot readily communicate electronically. We do not have enough paper copies for those who want packets simply for convenience. Therefore, please do not put your family, you or me at risk unless you absolutely need a paper packet. While I do not completely understand the vector of the disease process, our district leaders, health department officials, and local & state executives have asked us to minimize contact and maximize distance from each other.

So, please stay at home if you have electronic access to our learning materials. Please do not risk your health and the health of others unless absolutely necessary. We have arranged for a limited number of copies of these learning packets; please do not take one out of the hands of students who have no other choice but to obtain paper packets.

If you must go to school to acquire these paper learning packets, we have arranged for pick-up times on Monday, from noon through 1:00 p.m. and Tuesday, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Leave your children at home, if possible, and minimize the time that you are outside of your vehicle, especially when others are present. As the queue moves through the bus loop, go to a grade-level labeled box and obtain a packet that will contain both math and reading lessons. Please do not handle any other materials or touch other items on the tables. This pick-up time is not a social event; please move along the process so that I may pack up the materials, return to my home quickly and maintain my distance from you.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. We all must work together to mitigate the effects of this pestilence on our students, their families and our staff. We must comply with our leaders’ directives as we use common sense and social-isolation to reduce the incidence of the illness and preserve the integrity of our health care systems. Please stay safe as you respond to these extraordinary times. And please do not come to school if you have a way of obtaining electronic packets. Have a good night.
