The next monthly Wicomico County Board of Education meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at West Salisbury Elementary School - 1321 West Road, Salisbury.
The Board will convene at 6:30 p.m. and immediately vote to go into closed session. The open portion of the meeting will begin at about 7:00 p.m. Masks are optional.
The public comment section of the agenda is an opportunity for the Superintendent and Board to listen to individuals’ own comments on topics concerning Wicomico County Public Schools. The Board chairman has the right to limit public comments in length or those concerning personnel or student matters which clearly identify an individual or individuals, appeals or legal matters that are before the Board, negotiations and topics that are more appropriately addressed in closed session or privately with a staff member.
Only verbal comments are permitted during public comment session of a Board meeting. Written, printed, audio, or video material may be submitted via firstname.lastname@example.org.
No signs or posters may be displayed by the public during board meetings.
Each speaker shall address all comments directly to the Board and speak only from the designated location for public comments.
This meeting will be livestreamed on the Wicomico Schools YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Ays1ePIFvDplvKGkqFLKg). Meetings are viewable after the meeting has been held, and may be accessed in a variety of places, including BoardDocs, PAC 14, and the website of Wicomico County Public Schools (www.wcboe.org). Meetings held at locations other than the Board of Education Auditorium on Long Avenue may be viewed both live and later on the YouTube channel of WicomicoSchools.

The Homework Help Center at the Wicomico Public Library will be open May 2 - June 9 to provide support with homework assignments for students in grades K - 12 at the Paul S. Sarbanes branch of the library in downtown Salisbury, beginning on May 2 through June 9. The Homework Help Center will be open Monday - Thursday, 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Students should bring their homework or project assignments with them. Parents with younger children should plan to stay in the library while they are getting homework help. On Tuesday, April, 26th we will be having a Spring Pop Up! From 4pm to 5pm, teachers and families will join on the rear side of the Booth Street parking lot for some fun!We will be set up for registration for incoming PreK and Kindergarten scholars! We are excited to share the date for our Spring School Pictures on Wednesday, April 6th!
Families can order individual scholar photos and group class photos during Spring Photos. The paper form will be coming home in your scholars' Tuesday folder this week. You can also order ahead online by going to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/pictureDayId/EVT9BFC8X and entering our Picture Day ID: EVT9BFC8X.
Scholars do not have to wear Consistent Attire (CAP) clothes for pictures. Masks will be taken down briefly for the group photos; social distancing will be observed between scholars to the greatest extent possible.

It is provided through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).However, our school system benefits from many grants and funding opportunities based on the schools’ Free and Reduced- priced Meals (FARMs) percentage. Wicomico County Public School's next Parent University workshop, “Positive Parenting” for parents and caregivers this year will be held on Thursday, September 30th from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. This workshop is for elementary and middle school parents looking for tried and true techniques that they can use at home to alleviate family stress. A special thanks to Dr. Holly Hatton for her support and the awesome presentation she will share with parents!
During this presentation, Dr. Hatton will help parents FRAME their child’s behaviors by helping them:
F= Find their triggers.
R= Reduce Verbalizations.
A= Always being Consistent.
M= Make routines at home a priority.
E= Establish their expectations for behavior.

Welcome to Chipman Elementary, where we DREAM BIG and SHINE BRIGHT! We are so excited to have you as part of our family. The website is a platform in which we keep our families informed. We also encourage you to join our Facebook page as a platform to remain engaged.
Chipman Elementary School proudly serves approximately 230 scholars in grades PreK-3, PreK-4, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. We believe in Dreaming Big and Shining Bright with all that we do and accomplish. We hold high expectations combined with offering the support and encouragement all scholars deserve. In our school, we are one big family with five "houses," each serving as a support team for the scholars within the house. The houses represent lifelong positive qualities such as leadership and perseverance. We believe the school serves as a bridge between home and a student's career and work to ensure all school learning is offered in the context of future career opportunities. While a scholar at Chipman Elementary, our scholars are provided the materials, food, resource connections, counseling, care, and education to pursue whatever future they can envision!
