Dear Parents and Students,
Bienvenidos a La Escuela de Pittsville, or welcome to Pittsville School. I am looking forward to an exciting and challenging year with both students and parents as we journey through the next year.
As the new school year begins, it is important for all of us to understand the grading system set up for this class. Therefore, I have listed some important information that will help you to succeed.
During each marking period students will be graded on tests, written assignments, oral presentations, class work, quizzes, class participation and homework.
1. Tests, quizzes and oral presentations will count as 50 % of the grade. These items will be based on content covered in class.
2. Class work and class participation will count as 25 % of the grade.
Homework will count as 25 % of the grade. I will be looking for the following on all assignments:
a. Quality of work completed
b. Completeness of each assignment
c. Punctuality in handing in the assignment
d. Daily class participation
e. Daily work habits
3. Warm-ups will be completed daily at the beginning of class. They will be collected at the end of every week for a class work grade. Warm-ups
for the week need to be completed on the same piece of paper.
4. It is the student’s
responsibility to check the folder for any make-up work. This should be done
within two days after returning from being
absent.
Grades for all students in our classroom will be given according to the guidelines outlined above.
