Writing Assignment #2
Day 1, Prewriting:
Form: Personal
Narrative/Short Story
Required element:
- Must have a distinct plot
with Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and
resolution.
- The writer much choose a
main conflict that may be: Character vs. Character, Character vs.
Self, Character vs. Nature, or Character vs. Society.
- Must be based on a true
event in the writer's life.
Topic: Must be based
on a true event in the writer's life. The basis for this is up to
the writer. You can choose any event in your life.
Graphic Organizer:
Plot diagram
HOW TO BEGIN:
- Look at your "Heart Map"
in your Writing Notebook. Think about an event that you have
recorded in that heart map
- Start this assignment by
making a plan. Use the handout
"How to Write a
Short Story/Personal Narrative" to begin the prewriting process.
- Then make a
plot diagram use this as your graphic
organizer.
- If you don't finish in
class, make sure you complete up to Step 3 in "How to Write a Short
Story/Personal Narrative" for HOMEWORK. I will check this
tomorrow.
