Revising 

Objective: Revise texts for clarity, completeness, and effectiveness.

  1. Get rid of all the redundant/useless words or ideas.  The words or ideas that don’t fit. 

  2. Clarify what you have written.  Do your sentences sound right?  Are your sentences grammatically correct?  Is the spelling correct?

  3. Clarify your ideas.  Do your ideas fall in a logical progression?  Are your ideas logical and succinct?  Does it make sense? 

  4. Clarify the Point of View and Tense.  Are you using the same point of view in the whole piece?  Make sure you are not switching tenses. 

  5. Make it interesting.  Are you using different types of sentences to help the reader be interested in reading your piece of writing?  Do not start every sentence with the same word.
