Division of Instruction: Wicomico County Public Schools

Enrich your students' learning by using a Wiki to create, collaborate and sharel!

Have you ever wished you could have your own website, but were too afraid?  Maybe you were concerned because you don't know html, or maybe you didn't know how to use Frontpage or Dreamweaver or even what Frontpage or Dreamweaver are!

That's okay.  This issue is going to teach you an amazing tool that will allow even the most tech shy person to have their own website.  Even better, you can have a website and your students can interact with it!  The possibilities are endless, and you don't have to know html or have any special tech knowledge to do it!  It is so easy that your students can help manage it and use it as a collaborative learning tool.

Wiki in Hawaiian means quick.  And, a Wiki is just that!  It is a quick, easy, and free on-line resource that allows you to make a website.   The people at Wiki are also very supportive.  I have contacted them for help on many occasions and received prompt, helpful, and friendly responses.  They are constantly making improvements to this service.  Since I made my own Wiki only a few months ago, they have instituted many improvements.  I receive a monthly newsletter informing me of the changes they are making to the service.  I hope that after reading this issue, you will be inspired to make a Wiki on your own.

Many of our teachers in Wicomico County are already using this tech tool to enhance their students' learning.  If so, maybe this issue will provide some new creative ways to utilize this amazing tool.
