Digital Cameras

Digital cameras are an excellent tool for instruction.  I highly recommend utilizing this valuable tool in your daily lessons.  Using a digital camera is tactile.  It gets your students' attention and actively engages them in the lesson.  Students are highly motivated by most technology.  When you put a digital camera in their hands, you empower them with their own learning.  Students are excited by the prospect of taking pictures.  When students are interested and actively involved  in their own learning, behavior is easier to manage.

Utilizing a digital camera provides immediate feedback and opportunities for immediate, concrete assessment.  A student's work can be viewed immediately, or saved and taken home for later viewing.  No heavy book-bag full of papers.  Discs are small and easy to carry.

Aside from the start up cost of purchasing the camera and accessories, there is very little cost to the daily use of the camera.  No film to purchase, no processing fees, just shoot, save, and edit.

If you have ever considered using digital cameras in the classroom, and want lesson ideas, this page will be worth your time.

If you think this a cool idea, but need help with knowing actually how to use the technology, I have provided several links to further assist you.
