Students are reading the classic American novel The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter. This is a story about a young English boy who is kidnapped at age 4 and lives with the Lenni Lenape Indian tribe until age 15. He grew up to think, feel and fight like an Indian. When forced to return to white society, he struggles with his new surroundings, which he views as confining and prison-like. Most teens can relate to True Son's fight to find his place in society. Students may use this study guide study guide to check their understanding while reading. |
