Let's give em' something to talk about...
Learning vocabulary is more than just spitting back definitions. The Latin "voca" means to call or voice. If you can't use the words in conversation, you haven't mastered the vocabulary. After all, someday someone will use polysyllabic nomenclature and you should know whether to smile or slap them. Please note that when we are reading a novel, vocabulary is taught within the context of that text. If, after reading, you still aren't sure what a word means...use the dictionary! "Study early and often." - Goddess Grammaria Need help with mastering vocabulary? www.justreadnow.com/strategies/vocabulary.htm
AHHHHH CHOO!
Each term, students may bring in up to three boxes of tissues or bottles of hand sanitizer for 3 extra credit points each (3 items = 9 points). |
Book Report Project
Every student must complete one book report project each marking period. For the final term, students will create an Alphabet Book that will tie together literature we have studied during the school year. We will be completing the project in class. With the exception of absences, projects will be accepted one day late for half credit and will not be accepted after that. Projects are due on or before May 20, 2008.
Remember, whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are right. Be positive!
