What are synonyms?
Synonyms are words or phrases that are different but have similar or the same meaning. An example of a pair of synonyms would be large and big. Another example would be small and little
- The fish's mouth is very big. The fish's mouth is very large.
- Either word, big or large, can be used in the sentence. They both have the same meaning and both make sense in the sentence.
- The mouse if very small. The mouse is very little.
- Again, using either word does not change the meaning of the sentence.
