Language Arts Block

I teach Reading, Language Arts, and Spelling to my homeroom class.  A few of the things that we will focus on throughout the course of the year are improving our writing skills, strengthening our language usage skills, and reading for a variety of purposes.  We use the reading series "Imagine" by the Houghton Mifflin Company.  You can visit their website by clicking on the violin.

Math

I teach an above-level section of mathematics.  We are using a math textbook published by McGraw-Hill.  The sequence of study from now until March is as follows:

Place Value

Multiplying Whole Numbers and Decimals

Dividing Whole Numbers and Decimals

Data, Statistics, and Graphs
Number Theory and Fraction Concepts
Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division of Fractions
Measurement
Algebra:  Expressions and Equations
Geometry
Perimeter, Area, and Volume
Ratio and Probability
Percents

Each week the students will complete a 15-minute assessment in the computer lab.  This will diagnose any weaknesses in skills and also indicate areas of strength. We are currently reviewing the information tested with this assessment and forming groups based on the results.

By clicking on the hardworking student below you will be able to visit a site that has a variety of math activities that will be of help with all skill levels.
