Introduction

   Post Impressionism formed a link between Impressionism and Expressionism. During this period the value of  color was expressed. It was an artistic style that followed Impressionism at the end of the 1800's. Many Post Impressionists were Impressionists at first. Post-Impressionism is an umbrella term used to describe a variety of artists who were influenced by Impressionism but took their art in different directions.

Learning objectives

  Students will be able to;  know what is Post-Impressionism and its background information, know who are Post-Impressionist artists and identify the characteristics of Post-Impressionism, know unique style of each artist's works of art, compare and contrast Post-Impressionist artists' works, use Microsoft Word program to complete the task which requires to copy and paste, adjust font for the layout of their paper, type their own answers according to the given format,  and finally conduct painting using one of the artist's style.

Tasks

You are going to start your quest to find out the following questions about Post-Impressionism and its artists and its relationship with Impressionism. You want to copy and paste the questions below to your Word file and save it as " Post-Impressionism," and search answers and type them under each question. References need to be written for each answer;  you have to state the URL address from which you get the answer.

 The questions are: 

1.what were the  differences of Post-Impressionism from Impressionism?  (5pts.)

2. Who were the Post-Impressionist painters, list the six artists' names(5pts.)

3. Write explanation of each artist's technical painting style and  subject matters. At least four sentences for each artist. (30pts.)

4. How were Post-Impressionism related to Fauvism and Expressionism? (10pts.)

5. What might be the name of the artist of each picture on this page, one on the top, the other two at the bottom? What is it that make you think it is the artist's work? (5pts.) 

6. Which artist's artwork do you like most and why?  (5pts.)
