GroupWise

Activity 1

Create a group of at least 5 people from your school.  Include your TRT on that list.  Mail a short note to him/her explaining what you are doing.  Your email should also have an attachment of either written text or a picture.  Make sure there are no spelling mistakes by using the Spell Check feature.

Activity 2

Create three or more folders in your cabinet to store emails that you would like to keep.  Show the cabinet of folders to your TRT.

Activity 3

Schedule several dates in your calendar.  Print out your calendar and give it to your TRT.

Microsoft Word

Activity 1

Use Microsoft Word to create an 8 x 11.5 landscaped sign for your classroom.  The poster should be in the Landscape format and contain:

• A table that has information pertinent to your classroom.
• A picture from the Internet
• A border
• Text in several different fonts, colors, and sizes

Save the document as (Names) Classroom Sign.

Upload the document to Desire2Learns Drop Box under your schools name. Be sure to save the file under YOUR NAME so as not to overwrite someone elses file.

Activity 2

Use Microsoft Word to create a document with the following:

• A bulleted list of a topic you teach in your classroom.
• A Header or Footer for your document.
• A hyperlink from something in your bulleted list to something that matches your topic.
• Add some clipart to make your document more appealing.

Save the document as (Names) subject.

Upload the document to Desire2Learns Drop Box under your schools name. Be sure to save the file under YOUR NAME so as not to overwrite someone elses file.

Save the results of your search as a Word file called "(Your Name)Search".

Upload the document to Desire2Learn's "Dropbox" under your school's name.  Be sure to save the file under YOUR NAME so as not to overwrite someone else's file.

II (for elementary teachers)

Activity 1

 Use Kidspiration 2 to create a diagram of your day at school. 

• Use symbols from the library for as many of your icons as possible. 
• Make a hyperlink that connects to a website that may give more information about you or what you do during the day. 
• One of your symbols should make use of the Super Grouper feature. 
• Make the links that connect the icons a color other than black. 
• Use a different font in the main idea box than you use in the rest of the icons. 

Save your project as (Names) Day.

Activity 2

Use Kidspiration 2 to choose a template from the Gallery and modify so that you can use it in your classroom. 

• Create and add your own symbol to the menu and use that symbol in your project. 
• If possible, try to add a sound to one of your symbols. 
• Export your picture into Word.

       Save it as (Names) Template.

Inspiration 7 (for middle/high school teachers)

Activity 1

Use Inspiration 7 to create a diagram of your day at school.

Use Inspiration 7 to choose a template from the Gallery and modify it so that you can use it in your classroom. 

• Turn your new project into a template and save it. 
• Call it (Name's) Template.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Create a presentation in PowerPoint using one of the standard templates.  Choose any topic you like, but your presentation needs several elements to demonstrate your proficiency with PowerPoint:

• It should have at least 6 slides with at least 3 different content layouts.
• There should be at least one slide that contains formatted text, and at least one slide with a table, chart, or graph.  The graph should be one generated with PowerPoint, not just a pasted picture.
• One of your slides should contain elements created with the drawing tools, including  AutoShapes and WordArt.
• Include a clickable Hyperlink on one of your slides. Add some speaker notes that describe the website to which you have linked.
• Your presentation should include at least 4 different slide transitions and 4 different slide animations.
• Identify the presentation as your own by putting your name in the footer of the slideshow.
• Set up the slideshow to run automatically.
• Save the project as "(Name's)PowerPoint".

Upload the document to Desire2Learn's "Dropbox" under your school's name.  Be sure to save the file under YOUR NAME so as not to overwrite someone else's file.

Microsoft Excel

Create a spreadsheet in Excel. 

• Your spreadsheet should include at least four columns of data.  The columns should have different formats and one should be either money or a percent and another should be a date format.
• Sort the data by date.
• Make a graph or chart with your data and insert it as a new sheet in your workbook.
• Make a header and footer that displays the filename, page number, and date when your workbook is printed.
• Save the spreadsheet as "(Name's) sheet".

Upload your file to your folder in the dropbox. Email your TRT to let him or her know that it is there.
