What is the STEM
Academy?
SMS is proud to announce the start of Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math Academy (STEM) this school
year. The STEM Academy will offer students the opportunity to
focus on content with hands-on learning opportunities.
Students interested students need to complete
an application and meet the prerequisites.

The SMS STEM Academy is:
A school with-in a school
Composed of students with a high degree of interest in the STEM
discipline areas
Focused
on Project-based learning
Founded
on inquiry based instruction focused on problem-solving, decision
making, discovery and a high degree of interactive involvement
An
approach promoting interdisciplinary teaching and learning
SMS
STEM Academy will be limited to 90 students (30 at each grade level).

STEM RELA, STEM Social Studies, STEM
Science, Math 6 or Pre-Alg, Tech Ed.
and Computer Science 6 & 7.
Other periods are electives.
7th Grade:
