C.A.T. Club - Communications Arts and Technology Club

This after school club trains 5th grade students to run the TV studio.  They learn to operate the equipment while our morning announcements are broadcasted.  They also create slides for our printed announcements that run on a daily basis to keep students and parents informed of upcoming events.  Before the end of the year they will learn to create and edit video for short clips to be shared via our TV studio.  This is our 2nd year.   In our pilot year we were funded in part by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore and Wicomico Partnership of Families and Children.

Jr. Mentors

Jr. Mentors: In October, (12) fifth grade students will be selected to mentor kindergarten students in need of additional support. These students will eat lunch with their mentees once a week and spend time with them during recess. The fifth graders may go and play during station time, read books to their little friends, or help them with school work. As they meet, the jr. mentors will encourage their mentees to behave and help them learn to be successful. Overall, this is a buddy that will assist with their transition in school, as well as a great role model!

Prince Street Stepper

Prince Street Steppers:Image This program is open to students in 3rd – 5th grade. The step team is a reading program that is aligned with Accelerated Reader. The student must maintain monthly A.R. scores to remain in the program. They stay after-school once a week to practice their routines. Students are also required to be school Imagerole models and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Once students have learned their steps, they perform throughout the community. Ms. Ellis and Miss Lines coordinate the program with the assistance of college volunteers. Prince Street Steppers are also a part of Kids of Honor. This program helps our students regulate their behaviors; with one student winning $500 post graduation.Image
