Mr Thorpe, Scott
Principal
The 2009-2010 school year is my sixth as principal of Pemberton Elementary School and tenth in administration in Wicomico County. Among many professional goals, the initiatives about which I am most passionate are school security, reinforcement of our learners' positive behaviors, and students' creative application of learned skills. I have been grateful to the Pemberton community for supporting our school's endeavors, including the emphasis on nightly reading. Personally, I am blessed with a wonderful wife (Laura), a lovely daughter (Grace), and an active son (Sam).
Ms Miller, Paula
Vice-Principal
Paula Miller is a product of the Eastern Shore, but her educational background and career aspirations have afforded her the opportunity to experience the world.
She takes great pride in the fact that she obtained her B.S. in Biology (Pre-Medicine) while participating in the dual honors degree program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Ms. Miller graduated from this program with a 4.0 GPA. She received her Masters degree in Teaching from the University of Maryland University College in
College Park
,
Maryland
.
Ms. Miller's first job out of college was as a pharmaceutical and medical sales representative in
New York City
. After just a few short months, she was recruited to work at a pharmaceutical advertising agency on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. It was during this time that Paula Miller traveled to every state in the CONUS (Continental United States) and to Paris, France.
While in Paris, she worked to promote a drug for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
Her ties to the medical field are still strong for she serves as a Pharmaceutical Advertising Consultant to the industry.
Upon returning to the Eastern Shore, Ms. Miller's career in education began.
The bulk of her
years in the teaching profession have been spent in Worcester County serving as a Science Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Curriculum Planner.
This year marks her second year as
Vice Principal at Pemberton Elementary School.
She
believes the proper mix of academics, character education, technology integration, and parental and community involvement yields a student ready to serve their community and accomplish their personal dreams.
