Principal Kirby Bryson
Principal
This is my 19th year as an employee of Wicomico County Public Schools and my 3rd as Principal of Northwestern Elementary School. I am thrilled to return to Northwestern Elementary School again this year. Our school has a proud tradition of excellence and continues to be leaders in academic achievement in Wicomico County. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of our students and provide a challenging and safe environment for all.
I grew up in a small town in western Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1990 with a degree in Elementary Education. I also received my Master's Degree in School Administration from Salisbury University in 1994. I began my career in Wicomico County as a 6th grade teacher at Beaver Run Elementary before moving into administration. I have served as an assistant principal for 4 years at Glen Avenue and 3 years at Pinehurst Elementary Schools. I also have served as a building principal at Fruitland Intermediate and Pinehurst Elementary Schools before coming to Northwestern.
I reside in Hebron with my wife, Cris and two children, Alec and Katie.
Assistant Principal Jennifer Rice
Vice-Principal
I am so excited to serve as the assistant principal at Northwestern Elementary. This is my first year as an employee of Wicomico County Public Schools. Last year, I worked as an assistant principal at Accawmacke Elementary, situated on the eastern shore of Virginia, after relocating from Baltimore. While in Baltimore, I was a teacher for 9 years and an assistant principal for 4 years. I earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's of education degree in administration from Towson University.
I am looking forward to working closely with the staff, students, and parents at Northwestern Elementary. Working together sends the students the message that learning is a continuous effort for everyone involved in the process and that all stakeholders believe in each and every child's ability to succeed. Active parental support, combined with our best professional efforts, helps ensure academic success for the students. Together, we can achieve great success!
My husband, Brad, and I reside in Bishopville, MD. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach and reading a good book!
