Mardela Middle and High School
2008-09 Marching Band and Bandfront
Dear Parents,
You will be required to furnish your own black socks and Black Style Plus Impact marching shoes. Shoes are $25.00 new when ordered by Mr. Boltz through Bandshoppe; contact him by phone [(410)883-0091] or by email [cboltz@wcboe.org] by Monday, July 7, 2008 so that shoes may be ordered and received by August 5; the wearing of these shoes is required for band camp (August 5-6, 3-9p). Bring checks written out to “Mardela Band-Aides” to receive them. Prices for new shoes (due to higher shipping and product costs)will be higher for any subsequent orders. Students may trade useable shoes for ones (of miscellaneous sizes) in bin of donated, previously used band shoes; no guarantee of size availability will be given.
Note: Poms’ shoes will be handled through their coach.
Your child will be given a clean (in many cases. . . NEW), high-quality uniform (before the start of the 2008-09 school year) in order for us to be well-suited at Parades and other events. . .
HS Winds and Percussion: NEW (Spring 2007) jacket & bibber (high-chested uniform pants), black gloves, shako hat]
Bandfront/Flags: yellow & black cascade dress, green sequined bolero jacket
MS Poms: tank top (black w/strip), skirt (black), Underarmor shirt (black)
Majorettes: . . . to be determined.
Honorguard: Black uniform jacket, black pants, and patent leather shoes
Banner Carriers: same as HS Winds above.
Your child will also be issued a garment and shoe bag they can keep these uniforms in good condition.
After receiving all of these uniforms at the beginning of the 2008-09 performance year, your child will be responsible to take care of them at home so that they are in excellent shape for performances. Take them out of the uniform bags and hang them separately and loosely among their other garments; take extra care to fold the uniform pants according to the crease. The band will collect them and dry clean them at the end of the year. Any other dry cleaning will be the financial responsibility of the student.
Parents, please hem your child’s pants to the proper length 1 inch above the heel to avoid dragging and stepping upon the cuffs. If you need a new uniform, or if your uniform is in need of repair(s), please see the Band or Bandfront Director as soon as the need arises.
The replacement cost the uniforms are great ($180+ for each bandfront uniform, and $500+ for each HS uniform) and repair is expensive. Therefore, it is paramount that you take care of your assigned uniform in order to maintain its integrity and longevity. Then, we can continue to represent our school and our band looking our best.
Sincerely,
Band-Aides, Inc.
