Symphonic Band:

Attendance: Practices and Performances

The Attendance grade category (30% of Marking Period Grade) is the tabulation of points a student earns by being punctual to and participating in all scheduled evening rehearsals, dress rehearsals, parade and concert performances.

Please refer to the “Practices” and “Grading Policy” sections of the “Warrior” Marching Band Handbook for definitions and policies.

Additional performance requirements for the Symphonic Band, beyond those of the Marching Band, include:

o       Scheduled concert performances, including the Holiday concert (Dec), District Band Festival (Mar), Bingo “Pop’s” Concert (April or TBA), Spring Concert (May), and Graduation (May/June)

o       Any additional performances of the band, including possible fall and/or spring trips, impromptu gigs, etc.

o       Planned (with at least 2 week’s prior notice) additional practices if deemed necessary for the preparation of a performance

Symphonic Band practices and performances will be awarded the same points as their equivalents in the Marching Band:

Evening Band Practice (regular)

15 points

Evening Band Practice designated as “Dress Rehearsal”

30 points

Parade or Concert Performance

60 points

Again, refer to the “Warrior” Marching Band Handbook for details about lateness, absence, grade reductions, and performance restrictions.

Marking Period Grades in this category will be attained by comparing the total points a student has earned with the total possible.
