Band Notes for MMHS November 2007 Newsletter
On Saturday, November 3, BingoMania 45 will be held by the Mardela Band Parents Organization. at the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center. The doors open at 5:00pm, Instants Sales begin at 5:15pm, Early-Bird Play begins at 6:00pm, and Regular Play of BingoMania 42 begins at 7:30pm. The Jackpot Round (a single game worth $2,500.00, $5,000.00 or above according to attendance) begins typically at 10:00pm.
Band Help should come out to the Civic Center between 4:30 and 4:45p to organize and train. Evening food and drink is provided.
The MS/HS Bands, Bandfront, and Poms students are conducting their ever-popular Winter Fruit Sale, beginning until Tuesday, Nov. 21. We continue to offer a great product—the freshest and sweetest of oranges, Washington apples, pears, tangelos, and red grapefruits. These are available in 2/5 Bushels, 4/5 Bushels, and various mixed combinations; new this year are 10lb bags of the popular oranges or grapefruits.
Orders are schedule to be available for pickup either on December 11 or 12 [Tuesday or Wednesday--TBA) usually at 1:00pm; all orders are asked to be picked up by students before 4:30pm (make special arrangements with Mr. Boltz if this time does not work for your schedule).
Saturday Night Band Bingo has started its 2007-08 season of games. Doors open at 5:00pm in Mardela High School’s Cafetorium, instants at 5:15pm, and regular play at 7:00pm. Food is available at Intermission.
Jobs for band parents include Instants Sellers, Cash Attending, Ticket Attending, Calling, and organizing/setup. On a typical evening, we will earn the equivalent of a good 2-month-long candy sale (which we do not conduct). Food is provided for workers.
Band-Aides Inc./Band Parent’s Meeting
All parents of Band Students grades 6-12 are invited to the Band Parent Meeting, Tuesday, November 13, 2007, in the Bandroom at 8:00p.; all efforts will be made to adjourn by 9:00p Our current officers are Roy Lewis, President; Joe Harris, Vice President; Donna Anderson & Tammy Bennett, Treasurers; and Lesia Pruitt, Secretary. There will be changes in this list; elections will be held in November.
The Bingo Christmas Concert, featuring the Symphonic Band, Poms, and Bandfront has been moved from Saturday, December 15 to Saturday, November 17.
The Holiday Concert featuring the 6th grade Intermediate Band, 6th grade Choir, and HS
Strings has been slated for Monday, November 19 at 8:00p.
The Warrior Marching Band and Bandfront are slated to compete in the Pocomoke Christmas Parade (November 26), Cambridge Christmas Parade (December 1) and Salisbury Christmas Parade (December 2) [the option is open for more. . .]. Special thanks go out to Bridget Prettyman, Vicki Catlin, and Marilyn Schneider for their on-going work with the Bandfront, MS Pom Squad, and percussion (respectively).
