Band Schedule

Middle School Band Practices [ADVANCED NOTICE]

The 7^th and 8^th Grade Advanced Band will begin practices on Wednesday, October 10, 3-4:15p.  This is a required practice of all 7^th and 8^th  Grade Middle School band students.

[2^nd posting] MS Practice Calendars:  Your children have been graded for 2 hours of practice during the weeks of Sept 3-9, 10-16, and 17-23 (due Monday, Sept. 17).  At the end of each class period, I set some goals that will make their home practice purposeful and definable; Parents, please help me in guiding your children to developing good practice habits that will enhance their learning and their enjoyment of their instruments.

Be sure they complete their 2 hours of practice for this week; sign and return practice calendars on Monday/Tuesday (when you first have class).  This week’s numbers:

                             Band 8 (ACE)    2 of 10, 20%   (last week 30%)   Aw!

                             Perc 8 (BDF)     2 of 8,  25%   (last week 25%)  This needs to go up.  

                             Band 7 (ACE)    9 of 16, 56%   (last week 56%)   

                             Perc 7 (BDF)     4 of 6,  67%   (last week 67%)    

                             Band 6 (ACE)    8 of 18, 44%   (last week 22%)  Yee Ha!

                             Band 6 (BDF)    6 of 11, 54%   (last week 45%)  Yeah!!

The above number is 31 of 69, 45% (last week 39%), completing this responsibility; this is a good start, but I would like these number rise (however so gradually) to 100% (No Child Left Behind).  Parents, do your part to accomplish this goal.

[3rd posting] MS Calendar Addition[IMPORTANT]:  6^th grade band students, our Holiday Concert will be on Monday, Nov. 19 at 8:00p, following the scheduled PTA evening.  Required after school practices (3-4:15p) will begin once a week in early October (details TBA) to prepare and combine our 2 classes.  Beginning students will be expected to come to the rehearsals to learn from and along with the other more advanced students; decisions will be made close to the performance if each student is ready for a public concert.

* * * *Attention HS Parents and Warrior Marching Band, Bandfront, and Poms* * * *

[3rd posting]  Performance Adjustment:  The Bingo Christmas Concert, featuring the Symphonic Band, Poms, and Bandfront has been moved from Saturday, December 15 to Saturday, November 17.  All students in these performing groups are asked to make this adjustment to their schedules and keep this date open

[3r^d posting]  Practice Adjustment:  The combined Warrior Marching Band rehearsal for Monday, November 19 from 6:30-8:30p must be changed due to an unexpected PTA meeting and the 6^th Grade (w/Orchestra) Holiday Concert.  This practice will stay on Monday, November 19, though it will be from 3-5:00p (I am in the process of contacting sports coaches so that we will see all of our students for this last rehearsal before the Pocomoke Parade).

Saturday, Oct. 13:           Saturday Night Band Bingo (Nancy’s Team)
