Band Fall Fruit Sale

The Mardela Middle and High School Bands and Bandfront continue to offer succulent oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, tangelos, apples, and pineapples in small and large boxes and boxes suitable for gift-giving.  See a band member to order your box!  Proceeds of this sale will go to the purchase of instruments, music, and transportation of the Band.

The 2^nd turn-in date for sellers is Tues, Nov. 6.  See Mr. Boltz for more slips and brochure.

BingoMania45 is HERE! (Saturday, Nov.3)

It’s time!  All help for this Saturday’s BingoMania 45 should come to the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center around 4:30p to organize and train as necessary.  Doors open at 5, with Early Bird Play starting at 6pm.  Bring good walking shoes and be ready to be amazed.

* *Attention Warrior Marching Band, Poms and Bandfront* *

Tuesday, Nov. 6, 5-6:00p:  The request was made to have a short activity period, allowing the kids and instructors of all parts of the Warrior Marching Band to interact in a different way; this has been done in the past and has resulted in communication lines opening.  On Tuesday, Nov. 6, before our scheduled 6-8:00p combined practice, we will be gathering in the MMHS gym 5-6:00p for a little session of DODGE BALL.  Though this is not a required activity, I encourage all performing students to come and participate.  Bring a light snack to eat between the gym and the bandroom after the activity, for time will not be given for supper on or off site.  Evening practice will begin promply at 6:00p.

TWO PRACTICES THIS WEEK! [Tuesday (Nov. 6) and Thursday (Nov. 8), 6-8:00p]:  This week is meant to be a jump start to getting ready for the closely approaching competitive Christmas Parades that loom at the end of this month.  We must spend minimal time on putting music, routine, and marching together; our focus has to be upon perfecting our look, our technique, and any formation/step that will be added for the judges’ stand.

PRACTICE CALENDARS:  Be sure your budding musicians complete their 2 hours of practice for this week; sign and return practice calendars on Monday/Tuesday (when they first have class).  This week’s numbers:             

                             Band 8 (ACE)    4 of *9, 44%   (last week 22%)      

                             Perc 8 (BDF)     1 of 8,  13%   (last week 25%)      

                             Band 7 (ACE)    5 of 15, 33%   (last week 47%)    

                             Perc 7 (BDF)     2 of 6,  33%   (last week 40%)      

                             Band 6 (ACE)    5 of 18, 28%   (last week 44%)    

                             Band 6 (BDF)    4 of 11, 6%   (last week 36%)     

The above number is 21 of 68, 31% (last week 37%), completing this responsibility; we need these numbers to rise (however so gradually) to 100% (No Child Left Behind).  Parents, practice is a requirement of your students’ classes, no matter how they may balk about it; do your part to insure they are honoring this expectation (they have plenty to prepare and improve upon).

Remember:  Studies show that it’s the amount of time and the quality of that time spent practicing [NOT NATURAL TALENT] that decides the accomplished level of performers.  Let’s all work to be involved and promote our children to be the best performers they can be as a result of doing the right activities to get them there.
