Christmas Parades Results

Congratulations go out to the Warrior Marching Band, Bandfront, MS Pom Squad, Honorguard, and Banner for their 2007 parades performances!  Though they will disregard the outcome of the Pocomoke Christmas Parade, they received an 86.5 in the Cambridge Christmas Parade (missing 1st in their division by 1 point) and a 94.6 in the Salisbury Christmas Parade (Mardela’s highest score in Mr. Boltz’s tenure).  All the performers are commended for a great season.  Special thanks go out to Bridget Prettyman, Vicki Catlin, and Marilyn Schneider for their on-going work with the Bandfront, MS Pom Squad, and percussion.  Build on this success for Spring 2008!

Band Fruit Sale

Commendations go out to Donna Anderson, Katharine Allen, and the several high school students who made receiving, quality-checking, organizing, and distributing of 703 boxes of fruit smooth, coordinated and accurate.

Band Parent Meeting

The regular meeting of the Mardela Band Parents will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 8:00p in the Bandroom.  All parents of Band and Bandfront performers grades 6-12 are urged to become involved and encouraged to come to this meeting.

All-Shore Band Auditions

Jr. and Sr. All-Shore Band Auditions will be held at Easton High School on Saturday, January 26, 2008.  Registration is usually opened at 8:30am; a $2 charge will be payable by each student auditioning.  These auditions are open to all serious band students grades 6-12 who desire to participate in a band comprised of the cream of Eastern Shore student instrumentalists.  Audition materials (already distributed in November 2007) include prepared solos, memorized scales, and sightreading.  A bus will be secured for those who need transportation to Easton HS.

BingoMania 46

On Saturday, January 12, BingoMania 46 will be held by the Mardela Band Parents Organization at the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center. This is a bit earlier than our usual February date, so we have to begin organizing the (wo)man power to conduct this event in grand style.  Look for Parent-Student Assistance sheets to be coming home

and via email by the first week of December.  All responses should be received by Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008.

BingoMania 45 went extremely smoothly with the help of 60 dedicated parents and young people; we hope to see you again along with other parents who may not have taken the opportunity to experience this HUGE event.

District Solo and Ensemble Festival Deadline Coming Up

Students grades 7-12 have the opportunity to perform a solo or an ensemble in front of judges, very much the same manner that the bands perform for judges at District Band Festival each year.  Students who receive superior ratings would then have the chance to go to a State level Solo and Ensemble Festival.  Registration materials are due by January 23, 2008; see Mr. Boltz soon to start your search for the right musical selections.

Saturday Night Bingo

After taking Saturday, December 15, 22, and 29 off for the holidays, Saturday Night Bingo will resume on January 5.
