Janet Rayne

Title I Assistant/RISE
I was born and raised on a farm between Newark and Snow Hill. My father was a farmer and school bus driver, and my mother taught third grade until she retired. My younger sister Beverly was also an elementary teacher until she retired. I attended elementary and high school in Snow Hill, then went to Salisbury State College where I majored in Elementary Education. Upon graduating, I taught first and second grades at a school in Worcester County; I loved the students and their families there. After five years of teaching, I stopped so that I could raise my two sons Dale and Dean. They're both married, and they each have two children. I'm currently married to Maurice C. Rayne, Sr. He works at Mountaire Poultry and has a son named Maury and a daugther named Laura. They each have two children of their own.

Title I Math Assistant
I am the youngest member of five children in my family. My mother was a teacher and encouraged me to be one also. If I had continued, this would've been my 52nd year in the teaching profession. I retired after twenty years of teaching and went into a business of my own for twenty years before returning to the teaching profession. I love working with children, going fishing and farming.
