Small Group Counseling
Counseling Groups (Currently offered in grades K, 1, and 2)
Counseling groups, consisting of two to six students in the same grade who are working on similar goals, may be offered at various times throughout the year, depending on student needs.
Students may be referred to a group by parents or teachers, or they may request to sign up to be in a group. Written parent permission is required.
Groups generally meet once per cycle for four to six sessions for 30 minutes, during recess time.
Groups will be offered as needed, based on requests at each grade level for a specific topic.
If a specific group is not available due to low demand for the topic at a particular grade level, the student's needs may also be met through individual counseling.
Popular Topics:
Friendship (Social Skills)
Changing Families (Divorce, separation, remarriage of a parent, blended families, etc.)
Grief and Loss
All-Stars (impulse control, attention, and organizational skills for ADD/ADHD)
