I grew up in Salisbury but currently reside in Princess Anne, Maryland. I graduated from Parkside High School. During my years there, I participated in field hockey, basketball, and softball. After graduation, I attended Virginia Tech (Go Hokies) where I received a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree, both in education. I love to work with children and I am so happy to be part of the Beaver Run family!

I was raised in Baltimore City and attended Western High School, an all-girls’ public school. I moved to Salisbury in 1972 with my husband, Pat, who is a Salisbury native. We have two wonderful daughters that attended Wicomico County schools and now have successful careers in the business world. Casey lives in Baltimore and Ashley lives in Tampa, Florida.
I am a graduate of the University of Maryland with a dual certification in special education and elementary education. I have been teaching special education at Beaver Run since 1973. BRS has gone through numerous changes during my teaching career. When I began in 1973, it was a full elementary school with grades K through 6th. We now are a primary school with grades K through 2nd. One thing that has never changed at BRS, is the staff’s commitment to all students and their families. I have been fortunate to work with many dedicated teachers and administrators that embrace the special needs children.
I am currently working as the school’s special ed. facilitator working closely with the other Resource teachers, speech therapists, and occupational therapists at BRS as well as the classroom teachers, nurse, guidance counselor, administrators, and special area teachers to provide the best services we can to the special needs students. We work as a team and it works! I am happy to say that I have been at BRS longer than any other staff member, but surprisingly enough, I am not the oldest!!!
What do I enjoy doing outside of school? – spending time with my family, going to the beach, and reading!

I spent my formative years on the mission field in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. During that time I learned the value of treasuring the small things in life - one of the most important life lessons! I believe growing up in Haiti gave me a unique perspective and a love for helping people. At 18, I moved to Oklahoma and earned a double Bachelors degree in Elementary/Special Education. I am currently working on my Masters in Guidance/Counseling. Working with children has always been my passion and provides me with inspiration every time a child overcomes the impossible! Outside of work, I am most at home at the beach or activities that require you to be outside in the sunshine!
