Come play around with
math!
Have you ever thought that there was more to mathematics than what you see
in school? This is not your ordinary math class! Want to know how the banker
makes his offer on “Deal or No Deal”? Want to know how to take an unfair
game and make it fair? Do you like mazes? This hands-on activity based class
will explore how algebra, patterns, functions, geometry, measurement,
statistics and probability have impacted many aspects of our daily life.
Some topics include: the evolution of secret codes leading to modern day
Internet encryption, fairness related to games of chance, geometry and
ratios in art, origami, maze theory, using linear equations to represent
real-life situations, using logic to solve puzzles, and ancient and modern
day games.
