Creating Interactive Worksheets (Treasure Hunts)

 

1.     Use the Internet to find the website that has the information.

2.     In Microsoft Word, type the question that students are to answer.

3.     Highlight the part of the question that is to be “linked” to the website.

4.     Right click on the highlighted words and select [Hyperlink...]

5.     This box will appear:

    6.     Notice that [Existing File or Web Page] is selected and the Address box        is empty.

7.     At the bottom of your screen, the display bar should show the Internet and Word.  Click on the Internet button to go back to the site that the answer to the question was on.

8.     Now click on the Word button to go right back to your document.

9.     The address for the website that has the answer should now be displayed in the Address box on your Word screen.

10.   Click on [OK].

11.   The highlighted word(s) will now be blue and underlined.  This is called a hyperlink.  When someone clicks on these blue underlined words, the computer will take them to the website with the answer to the question.

12.   Hyperlinks can also be done with pictures, clipart, Autoshapes, and other objects.
