ASSESSMENT

Assessment Design: Includes description of assessment and scoring tool/rubric assessing both the content and technology.

 

Students receive 10 points for each item for a possible score of 100 points.

My dictionary entry includes:

a new vocabulary word correctly spelled

 

the correct part of speech for the word

 

at least one correct definition for the word

 

a well written sentence (more than 4 words) for my word that includes the word and helps to show its meaning. Student name was added for identification.

 

Technology Skills

 

 

I found the address book on my Palm by myself.

 

I know how to enter and save a new address (word). Earn 5 points for entering a new word and 5 points for saving the entry.

 

I typed the new vocabulary word in the "Lastname" field.

 

I typed the part of speech for the new words in the "Title" field.

 

I typed the definition of the new word in the "Company" field.

 

I typed the new word in a sentence in the "Work" field.

Implementation: Includes description of how the assessment expectations will be communicated to students.

Students are given a copy of the scoring rubric so that they know what they are expected to accomplish in the lesson. They will see examples of well written sentences that include vocabulary words as well as poorly written sentences so that they know the difference. Sentences such as this one for "tornado" will not be accepted: I saw a tornado.

Product: Explains what students will produce and how it is connected to what they are learning and includes a sample prototype of a finished product: Includes an explanation of whether you intend to use the student product(s) for other instructional purposes (i.e., sharing, gallery walk, data collection, ongoing instruction).
