ASSESSMENT

Assessment Design: Includes description of assessment and scoring tool/rubric assessing both the content and technology.

After reading a chapter in the current novel students will summarize the text using a BCR. The BCR Reading Rubric created by our school will be used to score the BCR. Students are comfortable using the Palm because we have used them before.

Implementation: Includes description of how the assessment expectations will be communicated to students.

As students finish answering their BCR question they will beam me their work and we will go over their BCR answer together. We will discuss strengths and weaknesses in their answer. Together we will score the BCR. Along with checking their abilities to answer the BCR I am looking at their abilities to handle the Palm. They will demonstrate their abilities to type on the Palm and beam me their work.

Product: Explains what students will produce and how it is connected to what they are learning and includes a sample prototype of a finished product: Includes an explanation of whether you intend to use the student product(s) for other instructional purposes (i.e., sharing, gallery walk, data collection, ongoing instruction).

After looking at each student’s answer, I will have the students chart their scores so the entire class can see where we, as a class, need to improve. Students will write their BCR answer (not including their name) on an overhead and their answer will be shared with the rest of the class. The Palms will be used for students to produce their BCR answer in a neat and organized way before we look at individual answers.

8) Together we will go over and score their BCR.

9) Students will chart their BCR score on the chart provided on the board.

10) Students will write their BCR on an overhead.

11) I will place a students response on the overhead and together we will look at the strengths and things we need to improve on.

DIFFERENTIATION

Extension Activities:

Students will make changes to their BCR responses after have seen and hear other class member’s responses.
