Organizing a Class Set of Palms

Mrs. Lewis has organized her class set of Palms with the help of her husband, Steve, who built the frame on which she stores her class set of Palms in her third grade classroom. Our clever and handy third grade teacher designed and sewed the pockets that hold each Palm and keyboard for her students. She bought iron-on fabric and, using her computer to type the numbers, created a label for each pocket so that students would know where to store their Palms when not in use... which is not often in Mrs. Lewis' class! Her students use Palms throughout the day for language arts and math activities.

Mrs. Lewis' students used Palms to type email letters to their friends in South Africa in an online project in the 2004-2005 school year. In August, the teacher in South Africa, Carolynn Bruton, visited the United States for the first time and met Mrs. Lewis in person. They enjoyed a meal at the Old Mill with several other Wicomico County teachers where Mrs. Bruton ate steamed crabs for the first time. What a treat!
