Spa, Pool & Patio Show – WOW!
Pool Tech and other
vendors, Sunsets Exteriors, Chelsea Builders, Shore Appliance Connection,
Waterworks, and Blue Heron Landscaping, put on a super show on September 24,
25, and 26. The Wicomico Mentoring
Project was invited to have a booth and to collect a $2 donation at the
door. Thanks to these great vendors,
we made over $1000!
We would like to thank the
volunteers who staffed our booth, the ticket counter and the bouncey house:
From Salisbury Rotary – Lee Whaley, Gisela Johnson, and Art Goetz; from the
Wicomico County Board of Education – Carol Freed, Dr. Faye Wilson, and Allen
Brown; from ShoreCorps PALS – Erin McKenzie and Kim Jones; from the Advisory
Board – Darlene Cole-Culver, Pat Phillips, Rob Heflin, Patti Leonard, Stephanie
Willey, and Paula Morris; and good friend – Barbara Hanson.
If you have a fundraising
idea, please call us. We need to raise
about $20,000. Pool Tech has given us a
good start. Thanks to all of the
mentors who came out to see us and to buy spas!
Donations
In response to our Wish
List in last month’s newsletter, several wonderful mentors made cash
donations. A great big thanks goes to
Scott Anderson, Michelle Barger, Beebe Winterbottom, Mr. & Mrs. Art Cooley,
and the Salisbury Rotary. First Shore
Federal will sponsor the newsletter three times. Thank you for your generosity!

Team Meets
Team Meets are held at
each school in conjunction with a PTA featuring Teacher Visitation. Mentors, parents, and students are invited
to attend. Mentors and parents meet and
get to know each other.
Together they go with the
student to visit the teachers and find out about student progress. Then together they set goals for improvement
with the student. Pizza is served and
transportation is provided for families that need it. These meets are important in the bonding of mentors and parents
to work as a TEAM for their students.
Team Meet Dates are:
•October 4-Chipman, Fruitland P&I, Westside P&I.
•October 11-East Salisbury, Glen Avenue.
•October 12-North Salisbury, Pemberton.
•October 18-Salisbury Middle, Wicomico Middle.
•November 1-Pinehurst.
•November 8-Beaver Run, Delmar, Pittsville.
•November 15-Wicomico High.
Invitations will be mailed
to mentors with the details. Permission
slips will be sent home for the students and parents.
