COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANT

The Community Foundation presented the Wicomico Mentoring Project with a grant of $5,000.00 from their Community Needs Fund. With the budget cuts made due to the referendum, the Wicomico Mentoring Project faces a shortfall of $25,000.00, based on 500 mentors. The Community Foundation Grant will be used to assist in paying for the Mentor Toolbooks and student incentive packets, the Team Meets held at individual schools, and fully fund our newsletter, Heart to Heart. "The Community Foundation is excited to help foster mentoring relationships in the Wicomico Mentoring Project. We enjoy helping programs that make a difference in the lives of our citizens," said Mr. David Michaud, President, as he presented the check to Mr. William Middleton, Superintendent of Schools, Wicomico County Board of Education and Mrs. Henrietta Parker, Project Coordinator.

STARS!!!
ACCESS 26 has two new stars! Renzilo Foxwell, mentor and his student, Parish, recently taped an interview for ACCESS 26. Renzilo and Parish have been paired for several years. Last year everything really clicked. Parish made a dramatic change in his academics and finished the year as one of "Maryland's Bright Stars." Check out their story, and information about the Wicomico Mentoring Project. For the latest schedule, go to www.access26.org and click on programming.
